What Are Novathreads?
Novathreads are made of polydioxanone (PDO), a product previously used for biomedical applications particularly in cardiothoracic surgery that is fully absorbed by hydrolysis within 4 to 6 months without any scar tissue. It stimulates collagen synthesis and the skin structure created will hold for another 12 to 15 months.

Novathreads (polydioxanone) are resorbable threads used to lift and tighten skin without any cuts or incisions. They can be used in many parts of the upper body such as the face, jaw, neck, décolletage areas as well as the lower body such as the abdomen, buttocks, and knees. While Botox is the preferred agent for the upper third of the face, and fillers in the middle third, the preferred procedure for the lower third of the face is Novathreads because it provides the much needed firmness and support without volumizing the area.

How Does it Work?
Novathreads are needles that are pre-loaded with a PDO thread. They are simply inserted under the skin through an easy injection, very similar to how fillers are applied under the skin. Depending on technique of placement (Nu-Mesh or Nu-Lift) and choice of thread (Smooth, Twist, Barb1, Barb2), it can create a line or a scaffolding to create a real "skin repositioning" or tightening in the area injected.
What Are the Common Side Effects?
Common side effects of injectables in general include swelling, bruising, redness, and areas of hardness in the treatment areas.
